Adjusting Page Layouts

Our managed packages include page layouts that are used to control the appearance of fields, related lists, and custom links on the object detail and edit page.

You can edit and adjust these predefined layouts as you need.

Let’s take an example of the Promotion Product page layout to demonstrate how you can edit it.

Since all the page layouts that are made available through our packages are managed, you can only edit certain attributes fields.

  1. Go to the Promotion Product object in the Object Manager.

  2. On the Promotion Product object page, go to Page Layouts and click the Promotion Product Layout in the grid.

  3. You can do adjustments like:

    • field-level adjustment like - adding new fields (if you have created any post package installation), removing existing fields from the details page, making any exiting field mandatory, etc.

    • add related lists.

    • add report charts, etc.

  4. Once done, you can preview and save changes.
    You can also save the changes in form of a new layout if required.

Adjusting the page layout

After the initial installation of a managed package, the updates in page layouts that are made available by us through package upgrades do not get applied to page layouts. In contrast, your changes/adjustments get retained. It is the default behavior of Salesforce to avoid breaking any configuration after package upgrades.
