Add or Edit Picklists Values

You can add or edit values in a custom picklist field for any custom object that is part of the managed packages you install for Instore configuration.

Add new values

To add values to a picklist:

  1. In the Object Manager, click the object that contains the picklist field.

  2. Go to the Fields & Relationships tab, click the picklist field to update.

  3. In the Values section, click New.

  4. Add one or more picklist values. Each value should be specified in a new line within the box.

  5. Map the new values with record types that appear in the grid below.

  6. Click Save.

Edit existing values

To edit existing values in a picklist:

  1. In the Object Manager, click the object that contains the picklist field.

  2. Go to the Fields & Relationships tab, click the picklist field to update.

  3. In the Values section, click Edit in the Actions column for the value that needs to be edited.

    • Change the value’s name, and optionally make the value the default for the master picklist.

    • Assign a color to use in charts and select how to assign colors to values.

  4. Click Save. When you add or edit a picklist value in either a picklist field or in a global value set, the new picklist value isn't sorted. You must reorder the picklist values.

    • To make the picklist required (if it’s not already), click Edit at the top of the detail page and check Always require a value in this field in order to save a record.

    • To change the picklist from unrestricted to restricted or vice versa, adjust the Restrict picklist to the values defined in the value set setting.

    • To open an easy-to-print list of your picklist values, click Printable View.

Editing an existing value

If the picklist uses a global picklist value set, you can change its values only by editing the global value set. Your changes affect all picklists that inherit their values from that global value set.

After the initial installation of a managed package, the updates in picklist values that are made available by us through package upgrades do not get applied on the subscriber side. In contrast, your changes/adjustments get retained. It is the default behavior of Salesforce to avoid breaking any configuration after package upgrades.
